Kellie Pickler, born June 28, 1986 to Cynthia Morton Pickler and Clyde Raymond Pickler at Stanly Memorial Hospital Albemarle. The time she was pregnant, her mother was 16 years old. This was an extremely difficult time for Pickler because her father struggled in addiction with alcohol and drugs as her mother divorced her in the early age of two. Morton was in charge of Pickler for two years but Pickler said that things were getting a bit difficult. "I remember that my mother with me being in the same kitchen, and I told her I'd rather die than to be together with you. I wish God would remove me.' The girl took out a knife and placed it on the counter and said"Here, cut it then.' It was the fourth grade. It's unfortunate that I did not act on it. But, it did leave an emotional mark that will last forever. Pickler was eventually given to her grandparents after she reached the age of 12. Morton failed to appear in the court hearing. Pickler was raised by her maternal grandmothers through her lifetime. Pickler cites them as having the greatest influence throughout her life. The mother Faye Pickler died from lung cancer in January of 2002, and she was continued raised by the grandfather. Pickler is a graduate of North Stanly High School, located in New London (North Carolina).
